Researchers in Tayside are looking for people to take part in a study that aims to understand if people with different levels of hearing abilities have different brain waves and whether this influences their understanding of speech.
The study also aims to find new ways to improve understanding of speech in people with hearing loss.
Who can take part?
To take part in this study, you must be between 16 and 70 years old, speak English as your native language, not use a hearing aid, and have no history of speech, language disorders, or cognitive impairment.
What does participation involve?
Participation involves attending an in-person appointment at the University of Dundee. It will take between 2 to 2.5 hours and you will be reimbursed for your time and travel expenses.
During the in-person appointment, you will be asked to complete a demographic questionnaire, undergo a hearing and cognitive test, and have your brain activity recorded. Additionally, you will be requested to test your ability to understand speech in different listening situations and listen to a short audiobook.
